Vintage Beni Mellal Flatweave / 284 x 167 cm
This older vintage flatweave from the Beni Mellal region speaks in a language of stripped-down beauty, raw, abstract and instinctive. Woven using two traditional techniques, its surface alternates between bold horizontal striping and spontaneous interruptions, primitive gestures from the hand of the weaver, like visual footnotes to a quiet internal story.
A simple palette of four, carmine red, pale orange, black and ivory. The balance is deliberate, yet unpredictable, like a song sung from memory, not from notes.
Contrasting braided fringes anchor the piece at both ends, adding texture and weight to the design’s tribal cadence. This piece holds space with understated confidence, an expression of abstract Berber art in its purest form.
