Vintage Azrou Saddlebag Kilim / 273 x 130 cm

Once stitched into a practical sack for domestic life, this vintage kilim from the Middle Atlas has been gently opened, revealing its full story, one that now unfolds as a radiant floor or wall piece.

Woven on a field of deep burnt red, the heart of the composition is a series of large central lozenges, rendered in a joyful and consistent palette of white, green, and yellow. Their presence feels ceremonial, grounded yet festive, like a song passed from hand to hand. The rhythm then shifts into deep orange and charcoal stripes, before reaching the borders, where tiny vertical diamonds in yellow, red, and green form a celebratory frame.

The craftsmanship is unmistakable. Each motif, each thread, speaks of skill and pride. Along the edges, delicate tufting and checkered stitch work add tactile punctuation to the composition, reminding us that even utility can be a canvas for beauty. A humble origin transformed into quiet magnificence.
