This vintage flatweave from the Beni Mellal region is a vibrant celebration of rhythm and color. Structured in horizontal sections divided by fine stripes, the composition unfolds like a woven mosaic, each panel filled with lozenges of varying scale and intricacy.
Despite the shifts in motif size, a quiet symmetry reigns, anchored by a steadfast palette of carmine red, burnt orange, cobalt, sky blue, turquoise, moss green, pink, and soft yellow. Accents in white and black offer a striking visual punctuation, lifting the colors and giving each pattern clarity and depth.
The layered lozenges seem to pulse gently across the surface, held in balance by the weaver’s confident hand. A striped ending and long clustered fringes finish the piece, echoing the structure and vibrancy of the whole.
