Vintage Zemmour Kilim / 330 x 170 cm
This exquisite vintage flatweave from the Zemmour tribe is a radiant tapestry of ceremony and craft. Set upon a ground of rich burnt red, the surface is entirely adorned with horizontal bands carrying an orchestra of intricate Amazigh motifs, geometric, symbolic and full of tribal rhythm.
Woven in hues of white, charcoal, and burnt orange, the composition is further elevated with shimmering rows of cactus silk tufting in bold orange and deep purple, a decorative touch once reserved for special pieces. Scattered miniature metal sequins catch the light, whispering of past rituals and festive occasions.
The precision and preservation of this kilim suggest its ceremonial nature, a textile made not just for warmth or decor, but for marking life’s meaningful thresholds. Framed with checkered selvedges and finished with elegant, long twirled fringes on both ends, it holds the quiet dignity of something treasured.
This is a rare piece, expressive, refined, and deeply rooted in Zemmour tradition.
